Mothers 90th Celebration

September 3, 2010
To: The Pastor, Officers & Members of the New Mt. Bethel Baptist Church
504 W 5th Street
Wilmington, DE 19801

I wanted to thank each of you for the love and kindness you showed my mother Luella C Tate as you attended her 90th birthday celebration on August 14, 2010. This was a very important day for her and you each made it a magical day for her, which we greatly appreciate. You are why it was such a success, and my Mother still is talking positively of that special day.
Special thanks are in order for the Pastor who took the time to speak during this special day and allowing the angelic choir to sing. The sermon was well planned and perfect for the day. It was especially strong because it did address my mother and those who have accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ but didn't alienate others at the same time.
Sister W. Poole, I want to make mention that I believe you are a brilliant musician and I have an absolute respect for your musical talent. Thank you for all you do, I can honestly say you are an asset to the New Mount Bethel Church. Please continue to share your beautiful craft with us.
Vera you are amazing. With all that was happening you were able get our family together for this special day. Even though we didn’t always agree you continued to show love and were very supportive.
It would be very careless if I didn't take the time to also mention those who couldn't attend in person, but let the love be shown in spirit. Thank you all for that! I also want to thank those who brought flowers and gave Mother money as well.
Some of you showed sincere generosity by including money in the Birthday Cards you gave to mother. These dollar amounts ranged from $10 - $50. With the economy being so tough right now, that was a symbol of generosity that doesn't go unnoticed and you certainly showed the love in your hearts. This was a blessing that brought joy to her.
She was able to get the items she needed for basic comfort, like over the counter medications. In addition, there have been some foods that she was even able to enjoy such as watermelon, BBQ Ribs, chicken wings and even collard greens.
This even allowed her to have another hair appointment and get other items done that she has wanted to have happen for some time. Each of you helped to make her life much more brilliant and full of happiness. There are no words that I can write that can reflect the full gratitude I feel for all you have done.
It is by the grace of God and your love that this event happened. Mother has gone from only 109 pounds and is now at 124 pounds. This has been an amazing change in her life.

Thank you all! May the Lord continue to bless you!

Yours Truly,
Bro C H Tate Jr.

Mother Tate

I joined New Mt Bethel Church under the leadership of Rev Joseph Williams in 1939. I joined this church after I was married Bro Charles H Tate who at time was an usher along with his sister Mary Flamer and Nancy Shockley. We Christians were at that time in a continual warfare against the wrongs and evils of this life. But as the Apostle Paul said in a letter to his son Timothy, exhorts him to put up a good fight and be a good soldier for Christ. I have continuously fought the fight lifting up the name of Jesus. God has been good to me. There were times when my son said I was almost gone. I had to send for my son to come back to the hospital after being there for several hours, I also sent for my pastor, Samuel Richardson,III.They thought I was own my why to my heavenly home. But God was not ready for me yet.I understand its not much I can do now,but I'm still here to lend a helping hand. I want you to know I am God's child. I enlisted in this Army when I was twelve years old and I'm not going to take anything less than heaven for my journey."Sho-nuf".I'll be there when you get there or you'll be there when I get there but we will meet some where around God's Throne.
